Independent Student Scientific and Professional Activity
Independent Student Scientific and Professional Activity is an important part of university studies and preparation for practice. Its importance lies primarily in preparing students for presenting the results of scientific work and their public defense.
Every year, the Dean of the Faculty announces the Student Scientific and Professional Activity (SVOČ) competition. The aim of the competition is to reveal the hidden potential of students in the field of science and research and thus support talented individuals by creating optimal conditions for developing their skills in scientific work, creatively using new knowledge in their field and strengthening their abilities to solve theoretical and practical problems, mainly related to the scientific and research focus of the Faculty. For students, the opportunity to professionally present the results of their work before a professional committee is good preparation for defending their diploma thesis or doctoral studies, or simply a chance for their own self-realization and comparing their strengths with colleagues, which is rewarded with a special scholarship. Students compete with original professional works in the field of law.
The competition is traditionally supported by prominent institutions, such as the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Administrative Court, the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office, the Office of the Public Defender of Rights, and representatives of the legal profession, who often identify their potential future employees among the successful students.
Students who successfully defend their theses can participate in the Czech-Slovak Law Competition. They have the opportunity to compete with colleagues from other law faculties.
